Construction of Improvements Underway at West Swanzey Athletic
Association Memorial Park

The construction of improvements has started at the West Swanzey Athletic Association Memorial Park, which is on California Street across from the Homestead Woolen Mill and next to the Thompson Covered Bridge. The project is expected to include building a pavilion for social gatherings and community events, improving the parking area, building an improved access point to the Ashuelot River, and adding a basketball area. The improvements were designed by Dubois & King Engineers and is paid for by a combination of local funds and a federal Land & Water Conservation Fund grant.

Swanzey Department of Public Works employees have installed the concrete slab for the pavilion. The construction of the structure has started and will be continuing over the coming weeks. The park remains open, but users should be aware that they are in a construction area. The Town expects construction will be completed by the early summer.
