Energy Commission

The Energy Commission works to advise and make recommendations to Town staff and Boards, Committees, & Commissions on matters of policy pertaining to the study, planning, and utilization of energy resources for municipal buildings and built resources of the Town.  

Previous to the Energy Commission, the Community Power Committee was formed as an AD-HOC committee.  Information about that committee can be found here.

POWERS and DUTIES
The Energy Commission shall:

  1. Research municipal energy use and cost and make such information available to the town on at least an annual basis.
  2. Make recommendations to local boards and committees pertaining to municipal energy plans and sustainable practices such as energy conservation, energy efficiency, energy generation, and zoning practices.
  3. Support and help to promote the Town's Community Power Plan.
  4. Make recommendations regarding sustainability of Town facility projects.

The Energy Commission meets the second Monday of the month at 1pm at Whitcomb Hall.

Members
Five members and three alternates are appointed to three-year terms by the Board of Selectmen.  If you are interested in serving on the Energy Commission, please complete an "Application for Town Committees, Commissions & Boards" and submit it to the Town Administrator.  If there is not a current vacancy, your application will be held on file.
