Dog Licenses

The State of New Hampshire requires all dogs to be licensed by the time they are three months old. The registrant is required to produce a valid rabies certificate for the dog and, if applicable, a spaying/neutering certificate. With proper documentation and fee, licenses can be obtained by mail. Licenses are issued annually  starting as early as January 2, with an expiration date of April 30, each year. Initial licenses are not pro-rated.

A $1.00 per month late charge is due June 1 of each year (RSA 466:13 and RSA 466:1). After June 20, upon instruction from the Board of Selectmen, the Swanzey Police Department will issue a $25.00 civil forfeiture for failure to license, along with a $5 forfeiture issuance cost.
