The Swanzey Police Department is one of the largest police departments in Cheshire County. It is a full-time police agency (providing 24 hour coverage) staffed with twelve full-time officers, a part-time officer assigned as a criminal investigator/crime scene technician and a full-time office manager.

The staff at the Swanzey Police Department enjoys working out of a modern, recently upgraded facility. We have a fleet of six marked black and white Ford Explorer police cruisers and one unmarked vehicle. The Department has previously supported a K-9 unit, an officer assigned to the New Hampshire Regional Drug Task Force, a School Resource Officer and a police bike patrol, but these programs are currently unmaintained.

Our officers have assisted in developing Neighborhood Watch areas and groups. The department participates in the Monadnock Regional Senior High School Internship Program, and offers a ride-along program which provides residents an opportunity to learn more about their police department and what officers do to serve the community.
