The Swanzey Police Department is one of the largest police departments in Cheshire County covering about 45 square miles. It is a full-time police agency (providing 24 hour coverage) staffed with twelve full-time officers, two part-time officers and two civilians. Our organization has a patrol division, a detective division and civilian staff. We cover all of the 45 square miles in two districts, east and west.

The staff at the Swanzey Police Department enjoys working out of a modern, recently upgraded facility. We have a fleet of six marked black and white Ford Explorer police cruisers and two unmarked vehicles.

The School Resource Officer (SRO) has been reestablished at the Monadnock Regional School District. The SRO is active in the high, middle and the two elementary schools in Swanzey.

Our officers have assisted in developing Neighborhood Watch areas and groups. The department participates in the Monadnock Regional Senior High School Internship Program, and offers a ride-along program which provides residents an opportunity to learn more about their police department and what officers do to serve the community.
