Vital Statistics

New Hampshire certificates of birth, death and marriage are considered to be private. Access is restricted by statute to those who have a “direct and tangible interest” in the record. Birth records prior to 1901, and deaths, marriages and divorce records prior to 1948 are exempted from access restrictions. For disclosure limitations, consult RSA 5-C:16 (http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/html/I/5-C/5-C-16.htm).

To research records, contact the Town Clerk’s office to make an appointment, or write to ask the Town Clerk to conduct the research ($15 per name searched). The charge for subsequent certified copies is $10.

Please, do not e-mail or fax a request for a certified copy of a vital record. We require an original signature and photocopy of a picture ID to process requests by mail. Please call the Town Clerk’s office for more information.
