Cheshire Rail Trail Clean Up

The Town of Swanzey Rail Trail Advisory Committee is holding a trail clean up event on June 26th from 8:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the Cheshire Rail Trail across from the Cheshire Fair Grounds. Significant trash has been dumped in this area and the goal is to remove the trash and to load it onto a dump truck graciously provided by the Town of Swanzey Department of Public Works. The secondary goal is to establish temporary gates to prevent future dumping.

All interested residents and trail advocates are welcomed to join in to assist in cleaning up this section of the historic Cheshire Rail Trail. If you plan to attend please send an email to

Parking is recommended at the Mt. Huggins Drive / Rail Trail crossing, which is about a 0.4 mile walk from Mt Huggins south along the Cheshire Rail Trail to the clean up site. It is highly recommended to wear long pants, long sleeves, and apply bug spray. Please bring masks, safety glasses and gloves.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

RTAC Chairperson
