South Winchester, West, and Swanzey Streets Reconstruction Project Update 2022 #5


The Town of Swanzey has engaged B.U.R. Construction, LLC from Newport, N.H. in 2021 to serve as the general contractor for the reconstruction of South Winchester Street, West Street (east of Rt. 10) and Swanzey Street. Work resumed for 2022 in April. Motorists can expect one lane traffic and minor delays due to construction work. The upcoming expected work schedule is as follows:
Monday June 20th – Friday June 24th
  • Sidewalk Construction – South Winchester and West Streets
  • Prep & paving of driveway aprons – South Winchester, West, & Swanzey Streets
  • Final paving of road & driveway aprons – South Winchester, West, & Swanzey Streets
Monday June 27th – Friday July 1st
  • General clean up, pavement markings – South Winchester Street, West St & Swanzey St

This project is funded by the following sources:
  • A portion of the $3 million bond for road reconstruction projects approved by voters at the 2019 Town Meeting
  • The Road Reconstruction Expendable Trust Fund as appropriated to annually by the voters
  • The Municipal Transportation Capital Reserve Fund funded by $5 added to each motor vehicle registration
  • Federal funds from a $500,000 Grant under Northern Borders Regional Commission (35% Grant Funds; 65% Local Funds)
  • The West Swanzey Sidewalk Committee Fund
  • A grant from the Monadnock Alliance for Sustainable Transportation
