Town of Swanzey to Hold Second Public Informational Meeting on Upper Wilson Pond Dam Project

The Swanzey Board of Selectmen will be hosting a second public informational session on June 23, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the Upper Wilson Pond Dam project.  At this meeting the Town’s engineering contractor Dubois & King will provide an update on work since the first informational session in April and a detailed review of the possible alternatives to resolve the dam’s deficiencies identified by the State Dam Bureau.  Upper Wilson Pond Dam is owned and maintained by the Town of Swanzey and is located on Swanzey Factory Road.

Upper Wilson Pond Dam was constructed in the early 1900s and is classified by the New Hampshire Dam Bureau as a High Hazard Dam. The existing dam does not meet minimum Dam Bureau safety standards and has led to the Town receiving several Letters of Deficiency. The Town has been awarded a grant through the High Hazard Potential Dams (HHPD) Rehabilitation Grant program to fund 65% of the engineering phase.
