Town of Swanzey to Hold Public Informational Meeting on
Upper Wilson Pond Dam Project

The Swanzey Board of Selectmen will be hosting a public informational session on April 7, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the Upper Wilson Pond Dam project, the Town’s objectives for the dam and to solicit public input prior to the identification and evaluation of alternatives. Upper Wilson Pond Dam is owned and maintained by the Town of Swanzey and is located on Swanzey Factory Road at the outlet of Upper Wilson Pond.

Upper Wilson Pond Dam was constructed in the early 1900s and is classified by the New Hampshire Dam Bureau as a High Hazard Dam. The existing dam does not meet minimum Dam Bureau safety standards and has led to the Town receiving several Letters of Deficiency. The Town has been awarded a grant through the High Hazard Potential Dams (HHPD) Rehabilitation Grant program to fund 65% of the engineering phase. The engineering firm DuBois & King, Inc. has been hired to assist the Town with this project. The purpose of this meeting is to provide a brief overview of the engineering work that DuBois & King will be doing, discuss potential alternatives, and seek input from the public regarding any changes to the dam.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the public is encouraged to attend virtually over Zoom by going to www.zoom.us, using the Zoom App on a cell phone, or on a landline calling 1 929 205 6099 and entering Meeting ID 871 0661 8409 # or using the following link:
