Swanzey Creates Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee

The Swanzey Board of Selectmen established an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Advisory Committee at their December 7th meeting. The goal of this ad hoc committee is to review EMS service needs in Swanzey and to present to the Selectmen a tangible cost benefit analysis of various service delivery options. This will include reviewing expenses and revenues, various municipal staffing options, response rates to emergency calls during and after hours, and other critical needs of the department. The committee is expected to complete its initial report by the 3rd quarter of 2023.

The Committee’s composition will be one Swanzey Fire Department member, one staff member, and three members of the community with two alternates. Ideal candidates will have knowledge or experience in the emergency medical response field and/or have experience reviewing financial records or preparing cost benefit analyses. A flexible schedule is preferred and availability to attend meetings over the next six to eight months is required. Residents interested in serving on the committee should complete the Town’s Application for Town Committees form or a letter of interest and send it to Julius Peel, Land Use and Zoning Coordinator, at jpeel@swanzeynh.gov.
