Hiring / Incentive Bonus Program

NH Certified Officers ($3,500)

• 3 Months $750
• 6 months $750 (successful completion of field training program) with successful interim evaluation 
• 12 months $2,000 (probation completion) with successful evaluation

Out of State Certified Officers ($2,500)

• 3 Months $600
• 6 months $600 (successful completion of field training program) with successful interim evaluation 
• 12 months $1,300 (probation completion) with successful evaluation

Uncertified Hires

• Starting pay $ 21. 82/hour
• 6 months scheduled increase pay $22. 37/hour (successful completion of field training program and/or Academy Graduation and successful interim evaluation) 
• 12 months Probationary Step increase $22. 92/hour with successful evaluation

All newly hired probationary officers (certified or uncertified)

Vacation Leave

• 40 hours of vacation leave during the probationary period after completion of 6 months of employment and a successful interim evaluation

Relocation Assistance (if required to move meet department residency requirement to live within 30 minutes of Swanzey PD)

• Up to $1,000 paid out on a reimbursement basis for moving, housing, or related expenses

Paid Time Off (PTO) – Police Sworn Hourly Personnel

• Paid time off shall be earned at a rate of 20 hours per quarter and credited to regular full time sworn personnel on the first day of each quarter (January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1). Paid time off must be taken during the calendar year which it is earned and shall not accrue.
• Regular full time and part time, sworn hourly police personnel working police patrol shifts on January 1, Federal Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Federal Thanksgiving and December 25 shall be compensated at an overtime rate for hours worked on those days.

*Ten years of Service, (with the Swanzey PD) a one time bonus of up to $1300
**Additionally, Officers are eligible to receive a physical fitness bonus of up to $500 annually for
passing physical fitness testing.
